Earthsafe™ solar electric systems have been designed by Shell Solar to provide an efficient and convenient source of environmentally-safe "green" power for residential and commercial users. The earthsafe™ 10 & 20 solar systems are designed as a supplemental power source which produces electricity that is matched to local utility power in voltage, frequency, and phase. In addition, the Earth Safe 20 systems even provide for "Back-Up" power that will support critical household appliances during a utility outage.
The earthsafe™ systems reduce the usage of utility power by producing power to support electrical requirements for any appliance. In many locations the electric meter will even run backwards as power is fed back to the utility. This is called "Net Metering". If more power is produced during the course of the month, the utility will purchase any excess power. Net metering allows homeowners to obtain the benefits of solar energy, whether or not they are using electricity at the same time their system is generating power.
Shell Solar has designed earthsafe™ to be complete and modular. Systems can be expanded as required. Each system is independent, has its own disconnects, and can be connected to local wiring. Systems can be installed by qualified electricians and contractors. A set of blueprints for the system is available from Shell Solar, which can be submitted for permit purposes.
As a guide, use 12 square feet of roof for each 100 watts of AC power. Earthsafe™ systems are compatible with 120 VAC and 240 VAC residential services.
